Born in Victoria, BC, Hannah Covey is a photographer based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal currently completing her BFA in Photography at Concordia University. In her personal artistic practice, Hannah explores themes of intimacy, vulnerability and the continued documentation of her experiences living in Montréal. Her primary mediums are 35 and 120 millimetre film, in addition to digital photography. Hannah can be described as a process-based image maker, focusing on the creative process versus the final work. A new exploration in abstraction, mixed media and the physical image, she comments on her relationship with self-image, vulnerability and nostalgia. Hannah is perpetually interested in relating personal themes to broader questions such as the role of the camera, authenticity versus performance and ways of relating.
